trouble is that I dont really get much exaggerated perspective with my 24-70. Damn those close range corrective elements. :-)

Don't look for wide! Look for something interesting close by! The strength of wide-angle lenses is their ability to emphasize the foreground while pushing the background further away. The exaggerated perspective is really a result of a relatively short shooting distance to your foreground. This close distance often translates to more intimate photos, making the viewer feel like (s)he is right there.
