I have shot a photo very similar to this one, taken duing the Documentary: My life challenge, going up the stairs on my way to work. Mine is in color and has a poster hanging on the end wall, which added a point of interest. I was primarily looking up while you are primarily looking down. I never posted mine, as I didn't think it interesting enough. To be brutally honest, this one is even less interesting to me. It is too generic and there really isn't much for the eye to explore. A more elaborate stair-well with interesting details would have helped. A point of interest at the end of one of the lines, a splash of color, just something for the eye to explore is needed imo. I like the idea, the tilt and the lines in the composition, but it needs more...
I cannot claim to *never* create common images. But I sure as hell wish I didn't. ;)
I snapped off a handful of photos in the stairwell here at work, on two different days. It all started when I was leaving work to go take the pictures of the building that I entered in this gallery. As I went to take the first step down, I stopped, opened the bag, and pulled the camera.
Then, a day or so later, I was walking down the steps again. I stopped, pulled out the camera, and started looking for things, through the viewfinder. And I chose a very simple method for choosing my shots. And that was to take a non-traditional line in the image, and use that to frame the shot.
Note that I was not bothered by the 'humph', merely curious.
Because you made me think, you forced me to back up and take another look at what should have been a very common image...you made me, forced me, to re-evaluate my percetions.
That always warrents a "Humph," if only because the process makes a person uncomfortable....which is not to say that this isn't a wonderful image for forcing me to do this.
Humph! This is very nice...creative, outside the box....weird...but makes me think where all the strang perspectives are coming from. This is impressive...oh, and I really liked the V also. Best Wishes, Traveller
