It's a definite improvement, as there is now some depth to the colour. Phil

Is it better now?
alexeig13-Jun-2005 22:59
Thanks, Phil. I shall try to do something along the same lines

I didn't say it wasn't worthy! :)
I think Lee has a point, it needs a little tweaking - I took the liberty and uploaded to my gallery - take a look and see what I mean (you might need to copy and paste the link as I don't want the image to show up here)

It was hard to put into words earlier what was appealing. I think it was the hand written sign and the very formal room and attire. Could benefit from a little PS work. Levels and contrast adjustments. theFly

Phil, nothing to be sorry about. theFly, many thanks for appreciation. I agree that both sharpness and contrast are not top notch. However what you see is a bit more bright and contrasty compared to what I have seen. As for sharpness: the guy was moving and add ISO1600 necessary in this circumstances, I used only ambient light here.
Now, was this shot worth making? I tell you this. I have been to opera recently (in fact, one of the top opera houses in the world) and I have bought a thick softcover booklet, which you could call book, about the performance. The cover (format A4) presented the shot of performance. And, you know what? It was even more soft and, in addition was full of croma noise. So, sharpness and contrast (or lack of them) is not an obstacle for a photoghraph to be sold.

I would half agree with Phil. But there is something really appealing about this shot. theFly

Sorry, alexeig, but it's more than a little soft (even, dare I say, out of focus) and looks very washed out. Phil
