I didn't vote for it in the booth, but it is certainly an excellent image. I don't think the high iso hurt you at all.

Nicely done! The spores under the gills would also be interesting if you had a mondo macro ;-) -Ed Hahn

Beautiful pattern and texture. I find this photo very calming for some reason. Would love to have it hanging on my wall.

Way cool Timothy. Aren't mushrooms the greatest! Love the graphic feeling of this. How you cropped and your choice of using black and white really work well.

Thanks guys! Actually I did play around with trying it at lower ISO. didnt have the same sort of quality at all, so I will leave well alone...

Strong work. I wouldn't bother with a lower ISO. I think the noise/grain in a B&W is very complimentary.

this is excellent!! B&W accentuates the pattern. nice. dorys

Dang, I had one of these in my hands at the grocery story last night-- almost brought it home, except I couldn't find one that wasn't bruised all over. In any case, I LOVE what you did with it. That crop is awesome. Also for what it's worth, I don't think you should shoot it at a lower ISO, because whatever grain there might be works really well for this. Very well done! --Nancy/odigi
