This makes my first clsr eligible entry.
Not specifically shot for the challenge but it fits the theme :)
Was doing some DOF tests with the 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

PS work: canvas width extended by 20%, tad of levels to get the background darker, full frame sharpening and some selective sharpening, cropped and resized .Was shot directly to jpeg not raw.

Thanks for the welcome Traveller :) I've posted my powershot s410 photos in the cslr challenge before but only in exhibition. Using the 20D for a few months already. My first real experience with a slr.

Thanks for the comments :)

I agree, a little more DOF would be better. I can't reshoot since I don't have those sweet berries anymore but perhaps moving the focus point a bit higher in the frame could help. I wanted to get the front and insides of the berry in focus while getting enough blur in the background berry, yes I could've used more DOF and added the blur in photoshop but what would I learn then ;) I did try placing the background berry farther and using more DOF put the composition wasn't as nice.

I enable Mirror Lockup and shoot with the timer, which counts down to 2sec instead of the normal 10sec when shooting without the mirror lockup. I don't have a cable release yet so that's the method I use for still life shots.

Unusualsettings and i am not quite sure were the point of focus should have been with this shot, it just seems a bit shallow.

Your first Entry? Very nice and let me say welcome!

But you shot this with curtain up? Like in a night shot? Interesting.

Best Wishes,

Traveller
