Redback *

Victor Harbor, South Australia

A nice new set of extension rings arrived in the mail this week, and a not so friendly spider from our barn helped out with a trial of the new rings.

The redback is one of the few poisonous spiders we have in Australia, and the only one that lives locally. The red stripe is said to warn potential predators away.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions - I removed the colour cast as suggested (I discovered I selected the wrong white balance - I think I should go back to just using AWB ! ) Neil

You're certainly a braver man than me Neil... but Mr B is right about the colour cast - certainly worth checking out the changes he made.

Neil, I like the shot. Great find, on-topic. But it has a heavy red-yellow cast to it. I hope you don't mind, but I took a quick stab at it, just for purposes of illustration. If you like the general direction, drop me a note and I'll outline the handful of steps...
