It's a lighthouse - fully operational...

In fact, I prefer the panorama too. Very mysterious building, what is it?

Well, it's a real debate now...I like the pan - in fact, I'd go even closer to the top of the tower with the crop. -Ed Hahn

Interesting how the image is so much better in the orignal crop! The panorama changes the whole composition for the worse, IMO. The scale and placement of the structure in relation to the sky is very important. Also, in the upper right of the original there are some "lines" in the sky which not only point to the tower, but also add depth and perspective to the shot - these are lost in the panorama.

Here's a panoramic version (I prefer the original - but for the debate...)

For me, the dark colors and the big amount of space stress the serious, dramatic mood conveyed by this image. I tried to hide the top third under another window in order to see how the image would look like if cropped to a panorama. The result would not be bad either but I cannot decide which aspect ratio I would prefer. -Gerald

I like the way the picture is. It has a very solemn look.

Adam, this would look better if it was cropped as a pano. The lone buiding could also use some lightening up, and selective sharpening (although not too much).

I am not sure this any good as is.
It looks like it needs to be cropped and I am not sure but it looks soft and slightly out of focus.
