I never sease to be amazed at these kinds of workplaces, which you'll find plenty of in California it seems: workplaces with no daylight! An american relative of mine told me that at his workplace, only the top bosses had offices with a window. The rest of the employees had a cubicle and they were arranged in such a way that noone would have a window. If there happened to be a window, the cubicle would be set up to block the view and daylight. Where I come from, workplaces without natural light is against the law! If a person has to spend more than two hours a day in a room - the room must have a window to the outdoors. When we design buildings here, utilizing daylight ranks very high on our list of priorities. --Olaf.dk
