Emotionless *

Cambridge MA,

Ok...do I had a bowler hat laying around, and decided to have some fun...So, I can't recall the guy who painted the emotionless bowler hatted apple dude, but I thought of that for a while and realized I could play a little with the idea. As you can likely see, my photoshop skills leave much to be desired, but early the morning, during the busy weeks of spring, you get the idea of what this should be!

that you even feel the need to ask that question. I'm sure this would either be considered a derivative work or a parody and would be considered fair use. To tell you the truth, I doubt Magritte has the corner on the market for the use of a bowler in an image. Your photo really isn't that similar.

Thanks Grant...of course....the question is, is this too close to him that I should look at dropping th idea....I feel I need to reference him somehow....perhaps?

Would this be a *much* better photo, if the background was something other than white? Ie. something like a color Paisley wallpaper type background? (the tux/hat as is but with less blowout on the shirt?)...I actually figured the technicals to getting a photo like this working for a patterned background with no photoshop at all...so am wondering if I should attempt this again? :-D

Some questions...

1) I can't seem to recall ever seeing a photo/work like this....however, I can't seem to shrug the feeling I've seen similar...anyone have any thoughts other than the apple dude?

Also, does this work for you? What needs improving? What works. How about the execution? I'd be interested in knowing. I'll be fully upfront and say that photoshop was used in the best way I know how for this photo...and the manipulation is pretty obvious here...I can think of a way to better do this using only camera tricks and a small amount of photoshop re-arngement, but am a little to lazy/busy/tired to do it...unless people think the idea is good enough. I;d be interested in any & all comments.

Thanks,
:-D
