Cindy, there are lots of really interesting buildings in that street, and there was another wedding being photographed at the same time, just a half block away. Behind the couple and to the left of the pic, is some very modern architecture......wild angles, weird shapes and reflections. I would imagine that is what the photographer was including as the backdrop to the couple.
To the right of the couple is Flinders St railway station, which is very historic and a landmark building in it's own right. And also very popular for wedding photos.
And you can't beat a busy city street for interesting "journalistic" style of wedding pics!

That's wild. There must be some reason not so obvious in this shot why they would want to do that. lol. I bet they got a lot of honks. Cool shot, Cindy

Great capture of a great moment. The "Safety Zone" sign is pretty funny.
I heard the festival, but we didn't go see it cos we were hot and tired after a long walk. We were sitting just outside the 7-11 store when we spotted this wedding, so had to cross the road to catch it. I photographed a few photographers in the square (small hobby of mine)....I might have photographed you!

great image and nice timing gayle. did you catch any of the brazilian festival on federation square? we must have just missed each other.
This was taken on Flinders St. The station is about 1/2 block to the right, Federation Square is behind them.
The road was BUSY and I couldn't believe they would actually go stand in the middle of it! Thanks for your comments, Eric.

Oh Gayle, those wonderful weddings around Melbourne and Fitzroy Gardens on the weekend.
I must admit I have seen plenty of Japanese packaged weddings in the gardens but this is the first time I have seen a couple on St.Kilda rd opposite Flinders St. Station. On second look I don't think that is St. Kilda rd. but I bet it is close by.
Grreat candid capture.
