Boston, MA

I'm working on a series for school based on the culture shock I have experienced moving to the city. Part of it was that I couldn't sleep for about a month after moving in, because the noise from the subway, the traffic, and the drunk students outside my window kept me from ever really getting into a quality REM cycle. I've spent quite a few nights over the last few weeks in this position. Maybe f5.6 isn't really a wide aperture, but DOF was a big part of this picture, so I think it qualifies.

Maybe you'd sleep better if you didn't rouse to have caffienated beverages! LOL! ;) Ok, I like the shot after reading the caption, but before reading it I was having a hard time with it. The arm is in a quite distorted position which I found distracting. I didn't quite feel the mood you described. I was wondering why she was hanging out there and trying to peer into the front of the stove. Was she waiting for dinner to be done? I just didn't 'get' the shot. Now that I know the situation, I can see it, but I don't really have any suggestions for changes that could have conveyed "exhausted" better. The composition is good and the BW is all fine. It's just the models position that needs some work IMHO. Shows nice creativity though. :) ~ Lonnit

An interesting and thought-provoking shot. The flames are great. I'd be inclined to try it with the door closed to get a little more starkness, though from your description, the "city" element is important to your narrative. Great job.

Great image! I like the composition a lot, the selective sharpness is really essential for the picture, so I think it fits the challenge theme very well! Hope you manage to get more sleep by now. :)

I like this, especially the very faint reflections in the kettle. It would be nice to see more, but then i suppose it would reveal the camera in the shot, not something i'm particularly fond of. At least whats there gives the kettle some 'shape'. Lucky the room is white too, giving this B&W shot a very B&W feel! - jono

Ok, resized, thanks. I save them small enough in PS, but somehow they're always a little too big in Pbase :(

I like this picture a lot Sarah, mostly the stove in the foreground, those sharp lines.
The b&w brings out the mood. Great photo, certainly qualifies.

Nice image. The composition and B&W treatment really shows the mood intended. I like the young lady's stance. Shu
