Gayle,
Another great shot. Looks like your day was a jewel. Very nicely portrayed. I hope you will have time to share your work with the people at the airport. They will love to see your quality images that show an appreciation for these old classics. Roberta

Are you still seeing spots in front of your eyes after shooting this? Cool shot! That starburst is just perfect. ~ LOnnit

Lovely shot Gayle, particularly the little bit of sun peeping through the blades.

I keep coming back to this image because of it's "dreamy" quality. To me it perfectly illustrates the dream of flying... the powerful engine, the prop, just waiting to spin freely, the sun beckoning yonder and the big open blue sky. So far this is definitely one of my favorites for this theme.

One of my very favourite movies is called "Radio Flyer". It's about 2 little boys who build a plane to fly away to a better life. I have no idea why, but as soon as I saw this photo, the title of the movie came to mind and I couldn't shake it. So that's what I called it. It doesn't make sense to me either, but it just seems right :-)

very well done Gayle. impressed with the details you got with your careful positioning of the camera. BTW I don't get the title of the pic?

Olaf, the cockpit was behind my head, and being all silver and glass it reflected the light nicely. The sky is as it came from the camera. This was achieved by careful positioning....to get the starburst while retaining the blue. I have 3 pics like this and another 2 where I moved slightly and got a white sky.
Angela, I am enjoying this lens immensely! It has added so much creativity to my photography.

Very cool, Gayl! I love the starburst effect from the sun glinting through the propellers and the body -- that adds so much! Aren't fisheyes the best? ;)

Gayle, nice shot! Love that lens' ability to shoot straight into the sun! How did you prevent the engine to be more than a silhouette and the sky to be anyting but washed out? Was the plane standing near a building, which was reflecting light back at it to fill in the shadows and did you colorize the sky in post? --Olaf
