Nice shot Paul. Straps are called "jesses" used to secure the bird and avoid damage to wings and feathers. Usually made out of kangaroo as it is stronger and lighter than cowhide.

Thank you Roberta and Karthik for your comments. I knew when I went out there that I would kick myself for not bringing my 70-200L f4 lens with me. It would have helped to blur out the background more and I wouldn't have had to crop so much. Coming from his legs are the straps that the trainer uses to hold on to the eagle when it is perched on his hand. =Paul
