My comment is really directed at my dad, but I'll post it here, too, because it applies here as well. This (and the other one) looks posed partly because there is no paint as far as I can tell already on the plane. My dad posed us like this when my brothers and I were kids, and I always thought it seemed unrealistic to have the implement being photographed in a position where it's not actually be used. My dad, for example, took a picture of me painting a picture (but the picture was finished). This, of course, is the opposite.

I'd much rather see the same thing, but with a partly finished plane. And the paintbrush would have to be posed in an appropriate spot.

"But," you object, "the focus is on the hands, not the plane." My answer to that objection is that the fact that the plane has not been started yet is in itself a distraction from the hands.

OK. Enough of my pet peave. -- Victor

Thanks guys, I did a whole bunch of photos at the same time, and at first I liked the perspective and composition of the other one. But after going through them over and over, I like this one better too.
As for the colour selection on the other pic, that was my choice not his :-) I think his planes should be painted with pretty colours cos green and grey gets really boring ;-)

Agree with Ed - this is more natural looking and better! --Olaf

Hi Gayle - I prefer this shot to the previous entry with the plane - looks less "posed" with the single paint bottle. -Ed Hahn
