This pattern is called Millefiori (thousand flowers). It is on a little glass dish I bought on the island of Murano, Venice.

woah that's pretty wild.. before I looked at your description I kept staring at it trying to figure out if it was material or rubber or whatnot.. very cool and 3-D look to it.
