This is the top of a dam in winter. Slowly, ever so slowly the water approaches the precipice and suddenly accelerates in free downfall disappearing forever from the view. But wait, not quite: a tiny fraction still clings to the barrieer as ice, it will be there for a while. This happens with all of our activities and finally with us, right?
