David: After reading your comment under the "Gina" picture, I wonder if I had expressed my thoughts in a way that could be misunderstood (happens easily, especially when one writes in a foreign language!). At no time soever did I consider your pictures not belonging here. On the contrary: of course they *are* portraits–what else?–and technically perfect ones too. I just wondered if anyone shared my astonishment about the contrast between the perfection of technically flawless images and the complete lack of any emotions evoked by them. Nevertheless, believe me: I'd give a lot for being capable to shoot pictures like yours. -- db.

Thanks Olaf!

David, don't sweat it! Like I wrote under your Gina-shot, nobody in their right mind could claim that these are not portraits. You are clearly within the boundaries of this challenge!!! --Olaf

Hey Everyone, thanks for both your compliments and your comments :-) I posted this shot, one, because I liked it, and two, because I hoped you would too. It is not, as I commented under "Gina", about the girl herself though, it is about how good she can look in print .. to help get her work. It is a portrait that serves a commercial purpose (though I am sure she has not failed to show it to her family members and friends). It is a portrait, its just not a "real life" portrait (read the comments under my portrait "Gina" if you have the time).

Was that the only kind we were supposed to post here? If so, I apologize for not reading the rules carefully. I could change these out for the "Day in the Life" kind if they really aren't supposed to be here (or just delete them). I'll try to find and read Joe's rules for this exhibition again, or just let me know.

Thanks!

Kindest Regards,
David

Yes, they are perfect, your portraits, David. I wish I myself–being a modest amateur–were able to shoot a picture like any of yours.) But, on the other hand, it is just that studio-perfection that makes these photos feel really cold, missing real life, *not* provoking any emotion at all... Am I the only one having these feelings (or, rather, lack thereof)?? -- db.

While it may not be "perfect" (after all, what is?), it's just a great, straight ahead portrait of a very attractive subject. I'm sure the subject liked it.

Perfect! Sorry, can't say more than that. :) ~ Lonnit
