ninadartworks - Thanks for your comments. It would have been good if it were possible, however framing a whole stem - they are very long - would have been impossible without moving so far back that the stem would have become relatively small within the frame and lost against the background, losing the shot's intensity.

I understand the idea behind your shot but I would have tried to frame a whole "blade" rather than just a section as the beauty lies in the form, curves and how is flows. The blurred background works well to isolae your subject.
