Joseph: Shutter is a smart guy, and his advice below is sound save one point... Don't acutally kick the duck. That duck is likely somebody's mother. :-) --Joe Reilly

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for the submission! The title really helps relate to this photo. A couple suggestions for a more powerful image... First, kick the duck to the right of the frame a little more. This is an easy thing to miss because you don't see full frame through the viewfinder, so a little bit to the right is added. In other words, overcorrect your composition in the viewfinder. It would also show the duck looking out over more of the water, creating a bit more of a concerned feeling.

Secondly, mid-day is just a tough time to shoot. I'd suggest underexposing a bit and then bring back some detail in editing, or better yet, shoot during the magical morning or evening hours.
