Hello dere!
by Mike Fitzgerald

with an old friend ... Melbourne, Australia

Nothing "challenging" about this. It's really a tribute to my OM-2N which served me faithfully for the past 20 years. After a year with my first (prosumer) digicam, I picked it up again just a week ago to see what I'd been missing. It was instrumental in giving me the shove I needed towards my 10D, so I hope it doesn't feel too jealous! :-)

Hi Mike. Nice shot. You probably know by now but, my first camera was the Canon AE1P. It was SO cool. It will be an amazing feeling to have a digital Canon in my hands soon, bringing back memories. I bet you felt the same way? Mark J

Yes Joe, I finally took the plunge quite suddenly last week, only a day after thinking aloud in the STF that I had any sense I'd wait until DSLRs matured (!). Here's how the last straw landed.
Angela - Thanks, and you're right about these being everywhere; that's indeed the reason for the wave. The reason I shot it at all was by way of facetious sympathy for people lamenting how large and heavy they perceived the F707 (all of 667 grams) vis-à-vis its competitors. This lot amounted to 2640 g, going 3020 g with the Winder 2 added. Single handed as it was, you can call it DLSR preparatory weight training! :-) -- Mike

Sometimes it's nice to drag out the old friends isn't it? I have an old Canon A-1, and while it's just a year younger than I am, and I haven't had it that long, I feel a rapport with it that I don't have with my other cameras. This is great, and I love the hand wave. Sets it apart from the usual face behind the camera in the mirror SP's. :D

Hello, indeed, Mike. Nice shot of two old friends. Did I interpret your comments correctly, that you are in the 10D ranks now? Thanks again for your assist in assembling the galleries. --Joe
