Daniel, I agree with your comment, but I'm wobbly on it. I don't think negative space need be a void, but I do think it is space that helps define and form the subject. In this image, I think the sky is negative space if one defines the landscape as the subject. The sky would not be negative space, in my opinion, if one defines the clouds as the subject. This is a great image for discussion and I'l be interested in others' opinions. -Michael
