Actually, I doubt that this belongs in the Challenge...but it is a new image....of a terrible 7 car pile up I just barely missed...cars careening everywhere and back and forth across the freeway. Fate was looking for someone.

Alas, Mary Anne, I gave up serious writing some thirty years ago, though I am published....the emotional cost of being a writer is...and was...too high. So I walked away. Yet I do dabble....but I'm not sure I'm capable of caring a sustained narrative for as long as necessary...and the print industry has changed enormously...and will continue to change. I'm hanging on by my finger nails as it is....I should have been writing all this Sunday but I have not.... Bad me. To work and thanks for the thought. Really. Traveller

Like Lydia and Nico, I'm glad you're OK...but your narrative is so "noir"-ish. I love the way you tell a story and then some. Trav, I think there's a novel in you trying to come out. --Mary Anne

Sometimes you've got to wonder... Friday night...1:55am I'm standing in line at a market buying 2 lbs of grapes, 1 lb of cherries and 4 bananas...the guy ahead of me is trying Desperately to buy a 12 pack of Tecate Beer before 2am when all such sales are forbidden....so he's counting his pennies, not enough, a VERY pretty woman gives him a dollar towards his purchase....people look to me...I won't do it, I say with a laugh....but I won't contribute for my own reasons. The box boy runs and gets him a six pack, but now he has money left over....so they break open the 12 pack, and he eventually buys 8 beers. I'm out of the market and heading home, but a little irritated...when I see ahead of me cars crashing everywhere....maybe I'm lucky the guy took so long buying his damn beers.... In the end I have to wait 45 minutes with the freeway closed....and what else are you going to do but take some pictures....and marvel at the fact that if I'm being delayed....a lot of people in this accident are having a much worse night than myself. People are sitting in the middle of the Freeway, women and girls are weeping in small knots of humanity.... Welll.... It's Friday night, 2am, what do you expect?. Traveller
