A Tale of Two Gardens 2

English Garden, Munich, Germany

I have to confess that I am not even sure if these count as "landscapes". If not, please feel free to send to Pending.

According to Wikipedia: The Englischer Garten or "English Garden" is a large public park in the centre of Munich, Germany. It was created in 1789 by Sir Benjamin Thompson. The Englischer Garten is one of the world's largest urban public parks, larger than New York's Central Park but smaller than London's Richmond Park. The name refers to the style of gardening; the term English garden is used outside of the English speaking world to refer to the style of informal landscape gardening which was popular in the United Kingdom from the mid 18th century to the early 19th century.

Have to admire your HDR skills, Nico. HDR was the right method to cope with the light situation here. -Gerald

Very nice Nico. The hand held method of HDR shooting has never worked for me, but this shows it can work very well. As others have said, lovely light. Regards, Michael

:-) Very friendly trees, these ones in Germany... :-) Thanks for the comments, Bob and K.

I really like the way the trees have moved themselves to shade the direct rays of the sun, so very thoughtful of them.

Love the shadows and the resulting light. Not a big fan of high saturation but this image balances it mostly with good detail in the shadows.

Very nice Nico, regards Bob

I agree that some colors are slightly over-saturated but this does not make this nice picture worse for me. I love this “interpretation” does not matter was this an intention or a result of HDR processing. These colors give a special feeling to the picture.

Thanks for the kind remarks.

Danny Boy, I took three bracketed exposures in quick succession and then used HDR software (Dynamic Photo HDR) to blend the three images. It should have been done on a tripod, which I did not have with me, thus the "softness" of the three hand-held shots.

Mary Anne, the point is well made and you are of course quite right. This image is very heavily processed (as explained above) and somewhere along the line the saturation levels got out of hand! :-)

Kind regards Nico

I like the composition and your use of light and shadow, although the colors (esp. the greens) seem somewhat oversaturated.

I have yet to figure out how to shoot into the sun and get good detail like this. I love the light, lines and shadow you caught.

ps. Both pics are landscape according to merriam webster :-)

Shooting trees against the light like this often create attention grabbing photos. This is no exception!

The light in this is so wonderful and soft. I like your treatment. ~Sharon

Thanks for the writing/explanation. Must be quite an experience to see such a place. I won't be sending anything to pending.
