Four Days In Ogunquit

....and I snapped this one day
when it wasn't raining! I was
fascinated by the way the light streaked
across the water and dunes. An ever-changing,
beautiful scene!

Shu, I have not seen this before you made the changes, but I like this composition anyway, as well as the vibrant colors. -Gerald

Thanks Bob--I cropped slightly and upped the saturation a bit. I think I could spend all day trying to decide which is better but decided that the changes are so subtle it's not worth the effort. Thanks for the time you spent on this.......shu

Shu, I played with this for quite some time and can see several slight crops that work very well. I do think you are right, if you crop just a little from the top, perhaps still leaving the slightest hint of that blue sky (top R.H.S.) it looks good and is perhaps more suited to the 'panaramic' nature of the subject.

I always have a similar dilemma with scenes like this. The cloud formation is interesting and various so one does not like to lose any of it.

However, The main subject is not the clouds but rather the landscape so it is ok to lose some of the 'secondary' subject.

Simplicity is an important concept (which I am slowly coming to grips with...) and to keep too many 'interesting' objects in a photograph more often leads to a composition which is 'too busy'... in such cases, the main subject can become overwhelmed. ( I think I'm trying to convince myself here... lol)

So, Shu, having said all of that stuff, in summary... I agree, crop a little and I think it may be even better than it is already.

Hi Bob--This is a place in New England along the Maine coast. It is especially beautiful and accessible from most places in New England. Beyond the dunes is the Atlantic Ocean. When I look at this, I wonder if it should be cropped along the top. What's your sage advice? Thanks, shu

Very pretty, subtle colouring Shu, so peaceful and 'enchanting'.

I must show my ignorance here and admit that I have absolutely no idea where this is but it sure looks nice!

Well captured, regards Bob

The clouds and their reflections are very nice, a lovely shot of a special place. ~Sharon
