These are the heads from The Doggie Diner, a San Francisco classic that shut down in the 80's. A local artist (and my neighbor) collected as many heads as possible and mounted them on a trailer. He takes them around to events and they usually get a warm reception.

Carnival, indeed! This was taken at a fund raiser in an old steel factory (the rainbow shot was outside) for "Big Art" sculptures like this:http://www.flaminglotus.com/. There was everything from vaudeville acts to a 2-headed calf. Freaky and very fun!
