Thank you all. Nico, your're right, it might work better with more water--I just didn't get around to trying that. This was just one of those spur-of-the-moment ideas, when the sun was shining yesterday morning. I originally thought of trying just a little water coming thru the eyes--but I couldn't get that to work. So I attached the hose to a small sprinkler head and turned the water up a little. The rock and sprinkler are sitting on top of a barbecue, so I could look up at the mask to the sky (otherwise it would all be trees/shrubs...etc). I would have had to switch to a zoom if I turned the water up--as it was, I was almost in the splash zone. --Melanie
I think this is stunning, Melanie! A very striking image indeed. The mask is splendid and the light (sunlight?) makes it really come alive. Did you have it on some rock near a shoreline where there were real waves, or is there some other trick to getting the water to splash so nicely. My only point of critique might have been that it might have been even better with more water... lots more... so the water can be a stronger component of the image. But, this is mere personal preference. Well done on a stand-out image! Regards Nico
