I know that you always put a great deal of thought into your photos, Lonnit, and I'm glad you took my comments in the (constructive) spirit in which they were intended.

LOL! Yes, but I didn't like it. I know the green is controversial, but it's what feels good to me, especially after trying to go in a more traditional mode with it and it not feeling right for the image. I feel it simply has more impact and interest this way. Otherwise, it's just another nice scenic, and nice scenics are a dime a dozen. I've got to be me! ;) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, the birds really complete the image, adding a nice balance to the boats in the opposite corner. I like the composition very much, but I have to admit that I'm not so crazy about the green hue (even though you say that this is how it was meant to be!). To me, the colors appear too harsh. Have you tried it with a gray overlay?

Michael, we're here for discussing photos - it's your right to ask anything at all. :) There's no insult in asking if it were luck, shooting skills, or photoshop skills. Who could be insulted by any of that? :) As long as you don't say, "That looks like crap! Did you stick that in there?" you'll be fine with the question! LOL!!! ~ Lonnit

I did wonder if those birds had been added from another image, but thought it might be indelicate to ask. Interesting story, anyway and I do like this image. Regards Michael

Oh, Nico, you little mind reader! LOL! I wanted to do some B&Ws because I need them for competition. I have plenty of color but I am short in the BW category. So, here I sat, trying to make this into a BW, but that was unnatural because the image wasn't calling to me to be BW. I only do BW when the image calls to be so. So, I was forcing the situation. I gave up on the BW and went for low sat, but the boat brighter red. Again, I was forcing an unnatural issue for myself. I gave up and decided to go color. I played around and this is what the image was meant to be!

The only problem was that the image had a blank space in the upper left corner. I could just hear the judge complaining about that, so, off I went to my handy-dandy backgrounds and elements folder, where I toss such shots, and I grabbed a few birds from a flock I had. LOL! I figured 3 birds, 3 boats, similar relative positioning and, voila!, we have balance! LOL!

Thanks for your comments, guys. :) ~ Lonnit

Very creative. It wouldn't have occurred to me to use this approach to processing, but I think it works very well. Those birds are perfectly placed also. Regards Michael

Beautiful 'scape, Lonnit. I like the processing. I am kind of surprised that you did not convert this into the same type of vintage monochrome as your first post. Or, coming to think of it, I suppose you did that, and then decided you liked the greens too much? :-) Compliments and regards Nico
