Yes, Carole, the eggs are in strands of clear gel... strands like sausage casings. And no, they don't normally guard them... she lays them, the guy fertilizes them, and off to their own desires again. ~Lydia

What a colorful shot of those egg strands - I thought they were encased in a clear gel? Do they guard their eggs like this? I wouldn't want to mess with this one - might give me warts! (Just kidding - I know they don't give warts!) Good sharp image with lots of texture Lydia. :-D CJ

Thanks, Folks. LOL @ Bob. I didn't kiss him. But, he did get angry when I told him I wouldn't.
Sharon, he normally moves his throat in and out while doing everything. I suppose that's his breathing. I never considered it. !Lydia

Beautiful capture and excellent processing Lydia. Lovely vibrant colours and an interesting perspective of such 'fabled' creatures!

(... you see... Lydia?... I'm onto your game here???? you cannot fool me?? ..... charming prince?.... But.... I would stay away from him???... he has a dent in his lip!... that is not a good sign???... ;-) ... )

What an unusual shot. The repeating patterns of the black eggs makes it very special. -dtallakson

Wonderful! I love everything about this! Is her throat blurry because she is croaking? ~Sharon

LOL @ Trav. No... Springtime at my house (with a pond) is always full of critters. We live on some acreage and it seems that there is always some wildlife around. My four kids always bring stuff to me. Even when our oldest's fraternity brothers were out doing yard work (to raise money) here, one found a turtle and son said, "Oh! Take that to my mom. She'll LOVE it!" The other 'boy' looked at him like he was crazy, but brought it to me with trepidation lest it was all a joke and I was going to freak out. I loved it. :)

Thanks folks! This is a toad, with toad eggs. Frogs lay their eggs not in strings like this, but in jelly-like masses that float on top of the water. ~Lydia

Lydia, this is just beautiful - and I didn't think I'd ever be able to say that about a frog!
The colour is stunning. Well done.

Dearest Lydia; do you raise these damn things or what? I have never seen anyone have such an extensive collection of frog/toad images. I mean I love them, but it is also a question of just why do you have so many around you?

No?

Best Wishes, Traveller

Very nice Lydia. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought of you immediately .........perhaps I should re-phrase that. Anyway, I like the shot. Regards Michael
