Check out the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest (where WWW means Wretched Writers Welcome). Their saying is just a little different: "It was a dark and stormy night...."

Great idea for the saying! I also thought of the Peanuts cartoon when I read those words as I don't think I've ever read a book that actually started that way! :-D CJ

Sounds like the beginning of a story written by Snoopy from Peanuts. All of his stories start off with "One dark and stormy night...." Good concept and execution. -dtallakson

Thank you Nico, alex and Traveller for your comments. Traveller, that was a very sharp observation regarding the bible I never thought that it would be that easily identified. I tried a take with a dictionary but my Oxford English was bit too bulky for the frame and I also thought the touch of colour would add another dimension to the otherwise plain picture. The B&W vesion also didn't work too well.

I really like this....my only concern is using the Bible for the stand in book. It seems at odds with the light and fun nature of the conception of this image...unless the sentence is:

One dark and fallen angel...

I could not agree more: nice and clean and simple... with perfect lighting.

So whom of the challengers are going to propose the most interesting way to complete that introductory sentence...?

One dark and handsome man; how very attactive... perhaps I should find out more about our new colleague, thought Tracy to herself...

No?

Kind regards Nico
