1950's Storage Boxes

Melbourne

My father bought this in September 1955 and it is still
as good as new. It uses 16mm film but dad used to buy
a roll of 120 (Brownie Box camera film)
and split into 16mm wide strips using a device consisting of
razor blades mounted 16mm apart on a base board. (... in the darkroom of course... bathroom blacked out!)
This gave him 3 or 4 strips with about 40 shots on each strip.
Total cost 3 shillings and sixpence (... somewhere near 35 cents)

other sizes: small medium original auto

What a nice story and photographed so very well. You've moved on a bit from your dad's Steky but the love for photography was carried on. ~dtallakson

They just don't package them like they used to. Heck, they don't make them like they used to either. All the tones work well together, Great shot.

Thanks CJ, Dad always kept his things in pristine condition, this is a Steky model IIIA made 1954 by "Riken Optical Industry, LTD" later "Ricoh"

Some info here if anyone is interested:http://www.subclub.org/shop/steky.htm

The carved box behind is a small 'camphor wood' chest my sister brought back from Singapore in the late 50's, now holds lots of old memories in the form of collectables..... (some might refer to as JUNK... lol).

Regards Bob

I love your story Bob, and what a nice memory of your father. Lots of different wood here and all of it lovely. The carved box in the background is interesting, what is it? Nice arrangement of all the different elements here and I can't believe you still have all those items for the camera! :-)CJ
