Thanks Bob. A bateau is a shallow-draft, flat-bottomed boat which was used extensively across North America, especially in the colonial period and in the fur trade. This picture was taken in northern Minnesota on the backwaters of the upper Mississippi River, about 100 miles from the Canadian border. There was a great deal of fur trapping and trading in the area. I guess I have a special fondness for this boat as my ancestors were French Canadian fur traders and probably used this kind of vessel! :-D CJ
I like this CJ, it invites interesting stories to tell. Fascinating structure, so simple and yet effective and so distinctive. Nice colours and textures as well.

Thanks Penny and Pops! This is one of my favorites and one of the few images I have hanging in my home! :-) CJ

Yea, what Penny said. The water in the bottom of the boat reflecting the distant trees and sky made me smile. It went unnoticed at first glance but now I always see it.
