Been here so long . . .

my eyes froze together :(

[image note: This was an interesting find today.
Typically this is in an area snowed out by now. We've
had a very dry and warm fall so it is still accessible.
These rocks are in a lava tube sink hole. There is no snow
in the surrounding area nor any frost. The frost here was
apparently formed from the humidity under the rocks. Many
of the lava tubes in this area contain year-round ice.]

What a lovely and interesting image Cindy! Thanks for the explanation of how these crystals formed - amazing! :-) CJ

I'm not sure that I can explain why, but I find this visually exciting. It is rich with texture and form. I'm betting a print will have wonderful crystal details. -Michael

Thanks Penny :) - it got hosed on the compression. I always find it so hard to bring out snow/ice textures without blowing it out or making it look underexposed. C
