The openings on the sides of the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor represent the Tree of Life.
It was on this Memorial in 1965 that Mrs. Pops saw her father cry as he pointed to many of the names of the men still on board and said, "I knew him, I knew him, I knew him...." He served aboard the USS Nevada and was mustered out of the service in September 1941. Many of his shipmates were transfered to the USS Arizona.
