I thought the blue sky was a bit overdone...and the entire scene is presented in much brighter hues than I saw in real life. I suppose it's not really garish, but it's the best I've been able to come up with. You know how life sometimes interferes with picture-taking.

I'm trying hard to see this as you have and I love the composition and feeling of emptiness, but it doesn't really strike me as garish color.
