Much better. Doesn't seem like it's missing a toad! LOL! ~ Lonnit

The toad hopped away. Weird. :) ~Lydia

Wow! Love it. Not sure about the toad. Might be better without since he doesn't seem to be processed the same. The colors are beautiful! ~ Lonnit

Lydia,
I second all the comments below - love on this picture everything ... except a small toad. Or, in other words - love your toads ... but not here.
Konstantin.

Thanks, folks.

No, Kiki. No animals are mistreated around here. :)

Jim, I built a watergarden/pond in my backyard. These tiny toads hatch from the multitudes of tadpoles throughout the spring and summer. The pool skimmer is where I can almost always find a frog. I rescue them, photograph them, and put them at the pond.

The blue is a blue baking dish with a bit of water in it. The lily pad and lily are, of course, also from my watergarden. They're all gone for the year now, though... the frogs and the lilies. *sigh* ~Lydia

This is a Very charming paint-job and a striking picture. Reminds me of old Asian art. You have a very good eye for both suitable colors and composition. Love those droplets, they tie the image to photography but are still abstract enough to match the flower. But the contrast between the somewhat flattened and silk-screen resemblant flower/leaf/water versus the toad is a little much.. the poor creature looks misplaced to me. I would prefer this as a pure flower-with-water picture. (Other than that, I like 99% of your frog/toad pics a whole lot, and hope you don't keep them in the freezer!)

This is outstanding. I'm left wondering how you end up with that beautiful blue background. Regardless, it's wonderful. I really love the balance and composition of this.
After reading TV's comment, I'm left wondering if I'd like this better without the toad or not.

My initial reaction was that I like the toad because it provides a balancing point of interest to draw my eye back into the frame after it's initially dragged over to see the center of the blossom at the far right edge. And I kind of like that effect.

But then there's always something good about keeping things as simple as possible. And the composition and colors here are so nice that maybe I would end up liking how this would look without the toad. I just don't know.

Where DO you get the tiny toads and frogs all of the time? Around here, there's only a small window of time every summer when I've got a good chance of finding tadpoles and then baby toads. They're fascinating.

OMG we know immediately from the signature frog/toadish creature. But like most sigs, this one is a distraction (imho) in the context of the image otherwise well done. -tv
