I love the textures in this Victor. I have viewed this a dozen times and find it difficult to make up my mind as to whether the rose is distracting or an important part of the composition.
It is a striking composition without the rose and I would prefer it cloned out rather than cropped because the lower leaves balance the composition.
However, as K2 commented, it may not be 'garish' enough without that blaze of colour.
I really like the background, those 'spikes' are 'in-harmony' with the character of a rose... beautiful but 'aggressive'?
Wonderful background for a rose branch. The bottom flower is annoying, imo, but it wouldn't be garish enough without it. Wish there was a little more of it and/or more OOF.
