Carving

In surfing lingo, carving means to turn the board in a quick motion, with the effect of edging out a curve on the wave.

Thanks Mary Anne and Melanie. Surfing usually requires 600mm lens or longer, if shooting from the sand. I was lucky to find this surfer while standing on a pier. Usually the lifeguards don't let them get close to the pier, because people are doing fishing there. It's no fun getting entangled into a fish line. But this surfer got very close. I didn't even have to extend my zoom fully.

Great shot, Dylan. How were you able to get it? Were you on a boat, or a bridge, or what?
