Thanks, Tommy! I think the sepia is misleading as far as contrast goes. The histogram in PS is lovely. ~Sharon

Thanks for the creative sense of humor. Only possible criticism is the low contrast but the natural look belies any adverse comment. -tv

Thank you, Olaf and Michael! I appreciate the clarification of filters, Olaf, much more simply said than that long-winded flickr discussion! ~Sharon

What a great shot! Your choice of framing is just perfect - including enough of the context around the center of interest to strengthen the story and excluding the rest, that would otherwise just be clutter. Fantastic capture, Sharon!

Mary Anne, regarding filters, to get an idea of what a red filter does, look at the red channel of different photos in Photoshop. Basically red things will appear light while green foliage and blue skies, for example, will be dark. A yellow filter will darken a blue sky some as well, an orange one even more. The red filter will also brighten (and quite often smoothen!) caucasian skin tones.

I am with you, Mary Anne, on the use of filters! I read somewhere that the red filter adds more contrast to your shot and that is why I had set the camera that way. Perhaps it was not the best setting for this shot? I found this discussion on Flickr about the use of red filters that is pretty interesting:http://www.flickr.com/groups/blackandwhite/discuss/93269/

Thanks, Lydia! The picture I really wanted to take I didn't have the guts to do, this young woman was carrying her cell phone between her breasts. I had to settle for her back! ~Sharon

Sharon, I've never used the in-camera filters (just discovered them, actually). I'm wondering why you've decided to use the red filter in these shots. I thought red would be more useful when there's a lot of green, while yellow is used to make the sky more dramatic, but I actually know nothing of which filter to use when.

LOL! That's hilarious, Sharon. But, almost too much like a mirror to really be funny. *groan*
Nicely seen and boldly taken. :) ~Lydia
