Bickel Camp is located in Last Chance Canyon of the El Paso Mountains, Mojave Desert, California. Walter Bickel (1905-19960), the mountain-man/prospector of Bickel Camp, spent nearly two-thirds of his life-time in Last Chance Canyon. A lot of the gold he collected was extracted from the modified current model of the miner's dry washer to retrieve up to 97 percent of the fine gold from the dirt.
