St Kilda Archipeligo, Hirta and Boreray 19th June 2005

On the afternoon of 18th June we left Barra for the St Kilda Archipeligo arriving in Village Bay at 0630 on the 19th June after sailing 80 miles. We slept for several hours and then disembarked by dingy to Hirta, the main island. Unfortunately the weather was overcast but it was just a pleasure and priviledge to be there at all! These photos are a record of our visit to these remarkable islands.

Thank you for that fascinating gallery of pictures, my penpals from Glasgow recently visited St.Kilda, they sent me a postcard about it and it was so exciting to learn more about that place. Thanks to your pictures I could see it as I never get there. I wish you many good trips in the future :)))

After seeing the 1937 film " Edge of Tommorow" about the crofters on Hirta, I came across yor picture site - Absolutley stunning & exciting ! Well done . We now plan on visiting this isle before departing this earth. Hal & Ardith - Atlanta, Georgia,USA and formerly from Nova Scotia, Canada
