McDonald family get together at Kars, Ontario in 1945

For some of the years during WWII, the McDonalds were unable to visit spend the summer at their cottage in Iroquois on the St. Lawrence River. People were being prohibited from certain areas and the river was being patrolled. The cottage was in one of those areas. Instead, the family rented a cottage near Kars, Ontario. Bob, Jim and Lionel were in the Navy during the war, and other members of the family were working nearby in Ottawa.
