Kevin - It's neat that you got to see the firefly larvae and were able to identify them as well. They're not what people really expect when they see these larvae for the first time as they don't look much like the adult beetles!

I was outside this evening and noticed little glowing lights in the grass. Further inspection revealed that the light was coming from what looked liked little bugs - guesing that they must be firefly larva of some kind I did a search on 'pic of firefly larvae' and ended up here, confirming my initial guess. I've been facinated by fireflies for years but it was the first time I ever noticed one of the larva. Great pictures!
