I've been finding many Swallowtail butterflies with a good part
of one or both wings torn away. They seem to be able to continue
to fly well regardless of the amount of wing that has been removed.
Obviously, the size and shape of these big wings saves many of these
butterflies from being killed by the predators that take a bite
out of them. They are supposed to be distasteful to predators,
so presumably, nobody is interested in a second bite.
