Porthtowan is the king of the coast for me and start point for spectacular cliff walk westwards to Portreath; unless desperate for facilities (good tea and fish and chips) it is best not to quite get to Portreath.
The unusual hues in the rock betray a past of large scale mining and the erosion of the sharp inlets is also partly man-made
