this is the largest area for moorings and with a couple of dry-docks at the head of the Gloucester to Sharpness canal. This bypassed the tidal and meandering section of the River Severn for the larger boats of its heyday. The towers of the cathedral and St Nicholas church can be seen beyond the converted warehouse to the North. At the far left corner is a lock back onto the East Severn river
