The very squat tower and 'inside out' arcade on the south wall (and north too) turn out to be result of over-enthusiastic November 5th fireworks in 1842, that burnt half it down and it was never fully rebuilt http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-285384-church-of-st-mary-bawdsey-suffolk#.Vy0C7mOr--I
