The toll house

Built in 1822 at Little Malvern and moved to Avoncroft in 1985. It is typical of the slightly romantic external style of the period of toll roads from mid C18th onwards. Slightly less romantic in our current time, see interior, so most of them have been extended and modernised

other sizes: small medium original auto

It has the gate too - very useful for stopping people.

Very nice light and shadow in this well composed image of the toll house. The fire looks inviting, too.

We seem to always have had taxes!
I do like these old Toll Houses, quite a luxury to have a fire.

It is beautiful! I remember seeing the odd one in the area. Even the interior shot is romantic in its way. V
