Colwall - Evendine and Oldcastle

Originally a separate settlement or string of settlements taking advantage of the natural springs on edges of Herefordshire Beacon and valley bottoms formed by them. A very intimate landscape and often with little or no habitations in sight as Evendine was nucleated with 4 or 5 farms clustered together. Oldcastle is reputed to have been a larger defensible establishment, but not much sign left apart from moat dug out as a lake
