Castle Frome

this 'village' now consists of the church, 2 houses and putative site of motte & bailey castle on the hill top at the left. The castle was to prevent re-possession by the prior owners, the Welsh. It was also known as 'Frome of the King' having belonged to King Harold prior to the outrageous takeover by William of Normandy and was held for centuries after by his hench-rogues of the Lacy family.

The Church of St Michael and All Angels is a minature gem both in the landscape and containing an exception font, ancient sundial and many other C12th or earlier features.
