Resetting some of the stones on a rock wall around the edge of my yard last weekend, I found this mysterious item.
It's about a half inch in diameter. The base is perfectly round and as shiny as metal. Top is an orange gold color.
It is bound (cemented/laminated) to a flat rock. I dared not disturb it so as to retain the mystery.

WHAT COULD IT BE?

Olympus C-765 UZ
1/640s f/4.5 at 10.9mm iso64 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

It shows some characteristics of PETRA BOLTUS, which are best know for their role in keeping the sky from falling.

A rare find indeed ! This is a very young Metolius Climberus Boltus. Left alone, they mature into very useful creatures.
